Quality & Trademark All our watches are water resistant but not waterproof; we do not recommend swimming with them or taking showers with them. Taking the watches underwater will revoke their guarantee.

  • Swiss or Japanese?

Difference between Swiss and Japanese Quality:

    Body:
The materials that are used for the casing, bracelet, and exterior features of both types of watch are the same. The only difference is in the precision of the manufacturing. Some exterior details may be closer to the original and the exterior features of the watch may be more exact on the Swiss models.

    Mechanism:
The biggest difference between Swiss and Japanese quality is the mechanism itself. Swiss quality watches are made with Swiss ETA movement and are actually made in Switzerland. They are identical to the original in every way. Japanese quality watches are made with Miyota movement. This mechanism can sometimes be less precise.

    Features:

    • On Japanese quality watches the chronograph feature is sometimes just for show.
    • On Swiss quality watches the power reserve is better so it will need to be wound less.

    Warning:
Although some sites may make a claim their replica watches are water proof no replica watch is water proof. They are water resistant. This means you cannot submerge your watch in water and you should remove it before taking a shower.

    WATCH INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

    Warning:

This watch is water resistant not water proof. You cannot submerge your watch in water and you should remove it before taking a shower.

    Understanding your watch:

The Crown: The crown is the main dial or knob on your watch. It is the biggest and the center one to the right. It is used to set and wind your watch.

    The crown has 4 positions:

Position 1: Closed- When you receive your watch the crown will be in the closed position. Once you have opened the crown you need to press the crown inwards and turn it clockwise to screw it back into the closed position. It is always advisable to keep the crown tightly closed when you are not adjusting the date or time.

Position 2: Winding- Starting with the watch in the closed position, if you turn the crown counter-clockwise the knob will unscrew, once unscrewed it will pop out. This initial position is for winding. Always wind in a clockwise direction (away from your body). Winding counter clockwise can damage your watch.

Position 3: Date-Starting with the crown in position 2 gently nudge the dial outwards by pulling with your thumb and forefinger. It is important to note that pulling it all the way out will move it to position 4. You need to find the sweet spot between position 2 and 4 to change the date. If your watch does not display the date there will be no position 3. When the crown is in the date position it is very important that you do not force it counter clockwise. You can damage the mechanism.

Position 4: Time- Starting from either position 2 or 3, with your thumb and forefinger pull the crown out until it stops. From this final position you can change the time. Always move the crown in a clockwise direction. Moving the dial counter clockwise can damage the mechanism.

*Some watches (Hublot & Cartier) have 4 different dials or knobs that are used for setting the date and time.

    Operating Instructions:

Winding your watch: When you first receive your automatic watch you will need to manually wind it for approximately 1 minute. This is what we call ‘jumpstarting’ your watch. From position 2 turn the dial clockwise for 3 consecutive minutes. Do not turn the dial counter clockwise. You could damage the mechanism.

To ensure your watch is fully wound we recommend also winding it by 2 full clockwise circles 3 times a day for the following 2 to 3 days. After that your watch will continue to self-wind from the motion of your wrist provided you continue to wear it every day.

Setting the Time: While the crown is in position 4 turn the dial clockwise (away from your body) until the hands have reached the correct position. Do not turn the dial counter-clockwise. You could damage the mechanism.

Setting the Date: With the crown in position 3 turn the dial clockwise (away from your body) to change the date. If your watch also displays the day you may be able to turn the dial counter clockwise to change the day. Do not force it; if your watch does not have this functionality you could damage your watch by turning the dial counter clockwise.

Chronographs: Many of our watch models feature up to 3 sub-dials. These are chronographs (essentially stop watches) with timekeeping intervals ranging from seconds to hours. The chronographs are activated with start/stop push buttons located next to the crown. To start a chronograph, simply push the button corresponding to that sub-dial, and press the same button again to stop it.

    How is your watch powered?

Kinetic Watch: Your kinetic watch does not use a battery. Inside the face of the watch there is a small mallet which self-winds the watch according to the movement of your hand. If you take the watch off for more than 24 hours you may have to reset the watch and wind it.

Quartz Watch: A quartz watch is powered by a battery. The battery will need to be replaced regularly in order to keep your watch in working order.

    Japanese vs. Swiss Watches:

The materials that are used for the casing, bracelet, and exterior features of both types of watch are the same. The only difference is in the precision of the manufacturing. Some exterior details may be closer to the original and the exterior features of the watch may be more exact on the Swiss models.
Swiss quality watches are made with Swiss ETA movement and are actually made in Switzerland. They are identical to the original in every way. Japanese quality watches are made with Miyota movement. This mechanism can sometimes be less precise.
It is also common on Japanese quality watches that some of the functionality is for show only. By contrast, all the functionality of the Swiss watches is fully operational. The power reserve on the Swiss watches is better so it will need to be wound less.

    Trouble Shooting:

Your Watch Stops Working: Your automatic watch does not use a battery and winds itself using the movement of your wrist. It is normal for a watch to stop after 24-48 hours of not being worn. You will need to wind your watch and reset the time as outlined in this pamphlet. It will then automatically wind itself once you start wearing it again.

Your Watch is Losing Or Gaining Time: If your Automatic watch is losing or gaining time in a 24-hour period, while you are wearing it, the watch movement needs to be adjusted. All of our automatic watches feature Japanese Miyota or Swiss ETA movements with an adjustment screw just like the original. Any local jeweler can easily service these watches.

Chronograph Doesn’t Work: Our Swiss watches have fully functional chronographs just like the originals. If one of the chronographs stops working it needs to be serviced by a professional. Servicing a chronograph involves removing the case and manually restarting or replacing the mechanism that controls it.
Unfortunately many Japanese made watches do not have the separate mechanism necessary to operate multi-function chronographs. If you wish to have fully functional chronographs we recommend you purchase a Swiss quality watch.

Battery Powered Watch Does Not Work

If your watch is not fully operational when you receive it, it may be necessary to remove and replace the battery of your watch to restart it.

We recommend having your watch serviced once or twice a year to ensure the mechanism continues to work.

If you are looking for a watch, go get a Casio, if you want a luxury timepiece get a Rolex! I've gotten more compliments on mine over the past 4 years that it is hard to even think about counting. I just bought the wife a two tone, diamond bezel and face ladies Rolex a few weeks ago. Beautiful. We've since shelved the Breitlings.

Fantastic watch and the most beautiful watch in the world. Extremely accurate if you wear it constantly or have a watch winder when you aren't wearing it. Constantly getting comments on what a beautiful watch that is. Don't wear it in the bad section of cities!

I have a Rolex SS submariner, that's about 30 years old, but always wanted one of these for the bling factor. It's a beautiful watch. About two years ago, I had switched jobs and had gotten a nice pay raise in the process. I told the wife I wanted to get one to celebrate the promotion. While at the Mall, I stopped in at the Ben Bridge Jewelry store and they had one. It was about $10,000. I told the saleswoman that I liked the watch.......but the price, not some much. I asked if they would discount it 5%, ...........and they did. I should have went for 10%.

The Sub needs no intro, but the new Sub is a better boat all around. First, the case redesign, claimed by father Rolex to be more sporty, but is actually a Deepsea lite. The new Sub case is beefier, bigger, and thus heavier and slightly thicker.

The bezel is georgous and it's platinum coated ceramic is stunning in looks and performance. Its an obvious upgrade of the old scratchable Aluminum one.

The bracelet is almost straight off the Deepsea and delivers the most satisfying clunk when set down. It is literally solid unlike its hollow predecessor, and the clasp is the world's best IMHO. On a side note, the Glidelock adjustment is amazing, but also necessary given that the sheer mass of this beast often requires daily micro adjustment to keep it fitting properly and comfortably.

Inside, the new hairspring did what the old one does only better. The parachrom hairspring is blue which is also the color of the Chromalight lumenence. And speaking of lights, the new Sub's running lights are bigger, brighter, and as mentioned, bluer.

So what to do right? If you want the history, fame, durability and technology of the Sub, then there is no other choice. The Depsea is fine, but another quarter inch thicker which is like dog inches making it somewhat excessive for daily wear.

The Sub is the definition of classic with many firsts. First waterproof watch. First rotating bezel. First crown shoulders. In my book, this watch is the next step in the evolution of a legend. Unfortunately, it has no competition except with itself. The Sub defines this entire category of watch. For me, this watch is the ultimate in function, form, and watch history. Everything else either is a copy or falls short. Everything!

If you deserve it, then you need it.

Outstanding. Enough said!

I purchased this Rolex about three months ago. It's my second Rolex. My first is a 25 to 30 year old GMT a Master. That watch is now retired in my safe and worth three times more than I paid for it. Yes, inflation accounts for some of that, but the fact of the matter is my GMT Is worth what I paid for it and has never lost value. If you keep the watch for a few years, you can't go wrong. As far as quality, this watch is top notch. Yep, a strange statement considering its a Rolex. But it's clear its top notch. Heavy, but not too heavy. The perfect size. Most people don't realize that EACH Rolex movement is sent out for certification and certified BEFORE it is put in the case. It's is not a sloppy batch process. The more you wear the watch, the better it keeps time. I really believe all high end mechanical watch movements need a break in period. New, this Submariner is running at plus 3 seconds a day. Amazing. My OLD GMT was at plus 6 when I first purchased it and now runs at plus 2 seconds a day. It was worn every day and put in a watch winder when gone for an extended period where I didn't take it with me because of theft concerns. And, it was only serviced once in 30 years! Again, amazing. The bezel and case on this watch is absolutely beautiful. I can't describe it and is a huge improvement over my GMT. The anti reflective coating on just the date window is a nice touch. I'm not going to go into the mechanism, as I'm not an expert. But, some proven refinements have been done to the movement. Please understand that Rolex builds all their watches in house. From the case to the movement. As for the bracelet. It is solid and heavy duty with the best adjustment system in the business. You can micro adjust it as needed and is a GREAT feature. As a matter of fact, it's my favorite thing about this watch. But, I would only get a Rolex from an authorized dealer. I'm not sure if the Amazon Dealers are Authorized or not. Please keep in mind, that the Submariner is the most counterfeited watch in the world. You need to be careful. Period. Gray market is not the way to buy this product. No E-bay for sure. You want to walk in, see it and know it's real. No, I'm not a dealer if you are thinking that! You you will pay more and sales tax. Of this fact, there is no doubt. But, at the end of the day, you will be glad you did. Trust me.

Can't Go Wrong with Rolex Sub!
26/10/2017
I really enjoyed my Sub for the almost 30 years I owned one. I bought one in 1986 at a price no one here will want to hear! Let's just say that if these watches keep going up in price that soon it will be 10x what I paid for mine.

Several things that you need to understand: Sirst, this watch is HEAVY. After you wear it for a while it won't be much of an issue but I don't know if I would recommend anyone going from wearing no watch regularly to wearing this. Second, you probably know this, but the watch is wound (mostly) by wearing it. If you don't wear this everyday or at least 5-6 days a week, don't bother. Of course, you can reset it and wind it with the knob but it is designed and built to be worn. Third, it may take you a while to get the fit on your wrist just right. They come with an extra link or two and the clasp has multiple settings. It is best to have a Rolex jeweler set this for you and maybe teach you how to do some easy settings. Even after years of owning this, I was unsure of how to reset the band properly. Finally, while this watch isn't the size of a Suunto, it is big. It will get noticed. I never felt insecure by wearing it, but I am a fairly big guy who few are going to rob. I don't want to discourage anyone from getting one of these if they want them, but be aware of certain risks.

I sold my Sub in 2014 (for 4x what I paid for it!!) simply because I hadn't worn it in years and wanted someone else to enjoy it. However, I'm still a big fan! The new ones I think are better than mine in many ways.

Flagship Watch
26/10/2017
Just traded my three-year old 14060M No Date sub for this one. That was a fine watch, my daily wearer. For some reason , I just always wanted the date version and regretted, just a tiny bit, not having bought it orignally. After all, the No Date is the 'classic' Rolex sub of James Bond and the real Steve McQuen. Anyway, the new 116610LN with the ceramic bezel is considerably more watch. The case is bigger, without the visible band lug pins. It's heavier. The band links are now solid steel, not hollow. The No Date (ND) was very light and comfortable.
This is the most 'salable' and 'tradable' Rolex watch: it's almost 'currency'. That shouldn't be your main concern but it's nice to know. This is a serious investment unless you're a dot-com billionaire or a Russian Oligarch or rap star. Go to an Authorized Dealer and try a few Rolex watches on and see which one you like best.
I am lucky enough to own three Rolexes but this is the flagship, even if it isn't the fanciest or most expensive. For many foks, the Sub Date is the watch that defines, the brand.
